Drought

CHALLENGE
Water is a basic element of life. Due to lack of
reliable rains, drought is a brutal reality in this
area. People have to walk miles to fetch a meager
pot of murky, bacteria-infested water.

SOLUTION
Create and sustain a clean and reliable water
system based on man-made wells or dams. In the
summer of 2008 KCDC members John Shoka, Max
Shoka, and Mary Braham traveled to Kishapu with
Shinyanga water experts to examine the water
situation and suggest ways to improve; either by
digging dams or wells. Further, research and
analysis must be done to determine the most
viable solution.
